Treasure room

We shaded on this weekend the treature room of the mummy. Before shading I painted some pictures for seeing if the color combine with our style. Here one of the matte painting:

The deadline is near. The animations are almost ready and my team need vacations :o) Today we thought about the entry-sequence. My job was to draw some concepts for the treasure room walls. Here a hieroglyphe sketch for our 3d-short:

Award ceremony

Yesterday I went with friends to the "Going Underground"- award ceremony in Berlin and it was very amusing and interesting. First we saw the 14 shorts who were nominated for the festival. Than they awarded the shorts and the subway-bystander chose me on the 5th place! I'm very content with this place because all movies were great. Many thanks to the "jury"! A friend of me (Stephan Goll) made the third place - wow ! Here you can see the result list and the 3 awarded shorts -> link

Mummy's darling

Our team thought about the color for the mummy's treasure. We decided to take a red/yellow because we want demonstrate that the stone is the core of the mummy.

Comic - Wilson the snowman

Today I recieved an email from an uncle who lives in brazil with the information that there is an illustration & comic competition in a brazilian newspaper. First I wanted to send my pictures but later I saw that the deadline is next week and that ist too short. My idea for the comic category was making a comic about my snowman Wilson. Here's a prelimiary draft:

Festival finished

Thanks to all people who voted for me last week!!! I saw some shorts in the subway and they were very funny. The award ceremony is on february 12. I will go there. Even if I did't win I'm very happy that I was under the 14 best of 457 shorts from 39 countries. Next year I will try again to take part in the going underground festival :o)

Sky race

Here my speedpaint for today. I tried to find a new style. My idea was a combination of traditional painting and vector painting. And this is the result:

PS: Happy birthday grandfather! Now you are 100 years old. I hope you sometimes look down from heaven to me .

Scribbles

Sometimes I leaf through my old sketchebooks to recieve inspiration. Today I looked in one of them from last year because i wanted to paint a speedpaint with little gnomes and thereby I recieved others ideas for painting :o)

Underground train

In the morning I went by underground train to see some shorts who participates in the festival. It was very interesting how the people reacted. In the next days I will go again to see more shorts :o)
